The state of Georgia is home to more than 2000 Oromos. The first Oromos started arriving in the state of Georgia in the early 1980’s. The majority of them came to escape political, economic and cultural persecution by the successive Ethiopian regimes.

Language: The Oromo language, Afaan Oromoo or Oromiffa is the third most widely spoken language in Africa, after Arabic and Hausa. It belongs to the eastern Cushitic group of languages.
