The state of Georgia is home to more than 2000 Oromos. The first Oromos started arriving in the state of Georgia in the early 1980’s. The majority of them came to escape political, economic and cultural persecution by the successive Ethiopian regimes.

The Land: The country of the Oromo is called Biyaa-Oromo or Oromia. The land area is about 372,823 sq miles or 600,000 sq km, it is larger than France.
